With only six months until the general election campaign officially kicks off, we are facing an uphill struggle to get our message out to the voters. Things are finally picking up for Britain after over four years of hard work climbing out of the worst recession since the 1930s. Just to show you how successful Conservative policies have been for the country, you only have to look at the fact that the European Union is begging us for an extra £1.7billon while the Germans and French have to be bailed out with a refund. That's success for David Cameron and the Conservatives.
The voters have yet to cotton on to our success, however, as recent polls show us running neck and neck with Labour. Thus, we have to pull our sleeves up and get out to the neighborhoods of Manchester and connect with the man and woman on the Number 86 Bus and driving home on the Mancunian Way. We know that a Conservative victory holds the key to building on the success of the last few years. No more coalitions! We want a proper Conservative government. So we have to tell the people of Manchester that we will give them the prosperous Britain they want. We need to get out there in the constituencies and communicate the good things that Conservatives can deliver for our hard working tax payers.
There are four constituencies in the Manchester Federation: Blackley and Broughton, Manchester Central, Gorton and Withington. These are hard seats to win so the 2015 general election will help us with the building blocks to future Conservative wins. But we must promote the party in these constituencies starting now and running up to the general election campaign.
Fortunately, there are four other constituencies in Greater Manchester we have a good chance of winning: Bury North, Cheadle, Hazel Grove and Bolton West. If we are to win a majority in Parliament, these are the areas where most of our work needs to be done. Starting now.
Anyone who wishes to help out in these constituencies and go our to meet the voters, please contact Rob Manning, our Deputy Chairman Political, and he will give you the details of the appropriate people to contact in these constituencies.
General elections are fun. It gives an opportunity for party members who usually do not get involved in political activism to come out and fight for the party they love. Victory in 2015 is by no means guaranteed. It's like betting on football results. Nothing is guaranteed. However, we Conservatives know only a majority Conservative government can deliver us the confident future that is needed for Britain. So why not help out in those seats we can win? You can make a difference. Get involved.
